Global Mission Resources - June 2010

Doug Leonard - Doug is the new director of the al Amana Center in Oman. He most recently served as pastor of the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown in Montrose, New York.  He also worked for two years as a youth leader in Native American ministry for the RCA in Omaha andWinnebago, Nebraska.   As pastor he was involved with interfaith ministry, which will be his calling in Oman.

Laurie and Bruce Hawley – The Hawleys have a unique ministry developing and leading volunteer work groups for the RCA in various parts of the world.  Their forte is working with mission partners to develop projects to aid the poorest of the poor.

Marlin and Sally Vis – This couple was recruited and hired by Pastor Hubers when he was in charge of the RCA mission program in the Middle East.  They were the RCA’s first missionaries appointed to Israel/Palestine.  Both are wonderful ambassadors for the reconciling ministry of Christ in a highly conflicted environment, now working mainly with tour groups to help Christians in American understand and become more prayerfully committed to the peoples of the region affected by the conflict.

Barbara Kapenga – Barb grew up as the daughter of RCA missionaries to Oman.  She works with the church in Ethiopia to develop and equip a committed and well trained leadership for a vibrant church community.

Amy and Sueng Kim – Amy and Sueng are the leaders of a unique Bible translation/education program in the country of Bangladesh which operates with a Wycliffe Bible Translator associate known as SIL International.   They are focusing on tribal languages that have never been written and into which the Bible has never been translated.
