JESUS’ JOURNEY TO THE CROSS
During Lent we will be following the journey Jesus took to the cross which
gained traction with the resistance he offered to Satan in a forty day period
of temptation in the wilderness and began in earnest when he “set his face
towards Jerusalem,” (Luke 9: 51) knowing what awaited him there.
It was a journey of determination and selfless love; a total, uncompromising
commitment to God’s purpose for his life. This, then, becomes a pattern for
our own lives, as we hear Jesus say:
“Pick up your cross and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
